hello new here need some advice

hi people im john from newcastle i currently drive a 05 corsa c sri but have always been a big fan of the golfs after my dad had a mk1 gti when i was a youngen i loved it... any way i have been looking for a weekend car to play with.. i have came across a mk3 golf gti 8v 3 door the car has 89k it looks imaculate although i havnt viewed it in person yet.. its totally standard..hes told me it needs front coil spring and gearbox mount which he will include in the sale.. the add states no rust ect its up for 795 ono.. hes dropped to 700 over the phone.. seems a bit cheap to me what do you guys think ?? also some advice on what to look for on them and what goes wrong on them would be good.. my plans would be to run it until it went pop and put a 1.8t in it

At 89k, you could be waiting a long time for it to go pop  :wink: (unless it's had a really hard life so far :undecided:)

As andy said you would have to seriously go some to kill it but sounds like its worth a look. have a look at the inner sill to see if you can see signs of rust as they rot under the sill covers. hope it works out for ya fella.  :smiley:
