which battery? alarm problems!
« on: 22 December 2009, 07:24 »
i have a mk3 8v gti dec 1993 engine code 2E. my car needs a new battery and id like to get a "heavy duty" battery. dont really know what to get! the current knackered battery is/was a 450amp, what is the highest rated battery i could use? also the range on my cobra alarm fobs is about 2 feet from the car! cobra say it sounds like poor power supply from the car to the cobra control unit! does it sound likely that a new battery will increase the range of the fobs or is it likely to be something else? any help/advice appreciated!

You can put any sized battery in as you want as long as it fits electrically (terminals reach) and physically. It has to be be big enough to start the car but the only penalty for going big is the extra weight.

067 or 097 diesel battery will fit but regarding the power supply! check all the electrical earth points, clean and replace cables as required
