Former Mk1 GTi Owner - Coming back to my senses
« on: 11 December 2009, 23:02 »
Hello all,

Just thought I'd take a quick moment to say hello.

I'm a former Mk1 GTi owner, in fact I had 3 in a row 12+ years ago.  I started with an 83 Y Reg Lhasa Green 1.8 GTi which got totalled by some daft girl T-boning me on a roundabout.  I then went straight out and purchased another Mk1 GTi this time in Alpine white and then sold that on to buy a Silver campaign model.

I've had well over 40+ cars over the years, all of them performance motors and mainly either VW's or BMW's.  However, I now find myself being drawn back to my youthful days and pining for a Mk1 again  :D

I really fancy restoring a Mk1 to the state I always wanted, but unfortunately couldn't afford to commit to.  Now I'm older and wiser I think it's now time to find the donor and get started!

So if you have or know of a GTi for sale in need of restoration, please drop me a PM.  I'm looking to spend around £500-£1000 and don't mind the condition really, it's going to be treated and pampered to a bare metal respray and fully rebuilt from the ground up.  Engine yet to be decided.

Thanks a lot,
Stu.

hey welcome to the forum

try the classifieds section and you might find something to get you started

good luck with finding the car and doing the restoration, get a project thread started if you do, just to keep us all informed of how you're getting on!
Wouldn't be fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?
