« on: 02 November 2009, 19:46 »
Alright chaps,

Got a new van coming next week. It a VW crafter 109ps.

How much for a remap and what figures would you expect? Getting it from wigan so could possibly pop in on the way home

Cheers, Sam

Hello m8,

We have got a 2009 Crafter 2.5 TDi to do tomorrow afternoon, but my tool developers say they are a pig to read and write via the obd port, some issues with the  CANBUS and clocks?  We have 5 of the top obd tuning tools so I hope one of them will do the job.
Software mapping will be fine if we can get a good read and write.

I will let you know the results tomorrow if me manage to get a file on there.

Cooweee!

Cooweee! (With the hand on the hip and one leg slightly kinked..lol)

No carried the job out yet,  It was booked in for a mobile job, but I did not want to take the risk of locking the ecu from a bad obd flash, after hearing comment that there could be issues with the Crafter and the dash canbus.  We are due to rebook the job at the workshop where we have all the bench tools as a back up tuning solution if we cannot get comms of fail to write to the ecu.
I will keep you updated once its been carried out.  Fingers crossed.

Nick

hi guys,
i have a 08 109ps crafter inc hybrid turbo, and went to reddot tuning for a remap.
but i've had no luck, they tried 2x to do it but not reading ecu from port.

so i went to paramount tuning in slough berks, had power run of 105 bhp.
they tried to map but no joy from port .
they said to remove the ecu and flash it on a bench ,but this way you have to drill or grind
off the shear bolts that hold on a metal clip to stop you removing the main loom plugs.
this will then invalidate the warrantey.
i've put on a tunit box,rr tuned/setup= 130 bhp goes alot better but is it going to get bore wash????
im looking for new shear bolts to match and a used ecu to test(will it need a reprogram0???)

please let me know if anyone has some joy!

From around late 2004 onwards VAG started to put the ecus if anti tamper security mounts which uses shear bolts.  With some of the range and with a bit a know how and skill the ecus can be removed and pulled without the need to drill the bolts out.  The ecu then sits in a bench cradle where we connect a batch of J-tag spring loaded pogos to the service point in side the ecu. This method allows a full read of the whole ecu by using the BDM method. (Background debug mode)

Not matter which method of remapping is used the dealers can see the remap is on the ecu, and void the warranty if the want to.

I got the 136ps crafter in the end, so not in so much of a hurry to get it mapped now  but by the sounds of it, it's a ball ache anyway!

Do you have any idea what the tuning boxes actually do, the write up says it just up's the fuel pump pressure, what adverse effects will this cause over time?
