How do I remove the gear knob in my 90spec MK2 GTI?

isit a golf ball knob. if so it screws off

Yeah it is. Is the screw under the plastic cover with the gear layout on?

No, just twist the whole knob anti clockwise & it will start to unscrew.

I'll give that another go, tried it yesterday and it would NOT budge!
