Mk4 1.8 or anniversay call backs
« on: 13 October 2004, 05:28 »
Having read some info on Anniversary wheels probs.
I am getting a petrol model, hopefully in a couple of weeks, seen a nice one in norwich stealership.
Is it poss to get one on a 53 plate,as i thought all were 52..
Is there any other recalls i should now about and other bits to look for.Looked at one car it had no unique plate no. on inside door pillar, are these had to replace and at what cost i wonder?

Thanks

You can get the plaque from the dealership.. no idea on cost.
I think the wheel corrosion is the only "Anni' specific" fault, and as 2 year old cars there shouldn't be anything wrong with the car.
The other nasties that can/might/probably will affect you that are associated with ALL mk4 golfs may not be far around the corner.
Do a quick search in this section for buying advice (ill get around to making it sticky one day, honest !) and you should find all the common faults.

Chris.

that plate is stick on. and you should get it with the car. I can't remember what i did with mine but i wouldn't care if yr car doesn't come with one. Anniversary editions are easy to spot because they come with mk3 badges, mk1 seats, golf ball gear knob and smaller wing mirrors.

Only other things i'd say are the dashboard rattles and my interior 3/4 panel trim came loose because the plastic clip behind it broke. Also make sure that when you turn the air con on, go to the engine bay and make sure the fans come on. I don't know if this is specific to diesels or not but i'm guessing the aircon system on any mk4 golf is pretty much universal.

other than that, its pretty much as topher (i'm sure it used to be tophuh!) said.

have a nice day
