I'd rather they took my car and I never saw it again than be battered with a baseball bat and them still take my car and I never see it again...

I'd rather go down swinging - but I guess that's just me!

Keys, wallet, phone and laptop always sleep next to me!

My dad had both his cars stolen, an ML and E class - they broke into the house a few days before and took the spare keys, then came back and took the cars. They turned up locked and parked in a dodgy area 2 weeks later, not a sign of damage. Trouble is, my dad (in his infinite wisdom) left a £500 printer and the week's shop takings in the car! So even though the cars came back - he was very much out of pocket!

Post the reg plates to the cars and plaster it all over the net!

i would only start swinging if they tried coming up the stairs,  always keep my baseball bat in reach next to my bed.
wouldnt care what they take downstairs as that can all be replaced by insurance and i have a tracker on the car also.
wants a gt tdi

Thing is, if you let them take it without the hassle, you won't be going down. If you make them wake you up and risk them chucking a knife in you or removing your teeth with a baseball bat, your going down and your car's more than likely gone too.

Personally I couldn't give a sh!t about my car, my family mean far more to me and they can't be insured.

JMO and ETTO

Sorry to hear about the incident though OP, hope it's resolved as stress free as possible.

Bastads!!!  My wife caught someone climbing through a window downstairs a couple of years ago, luckily they scarpered when she started screaming but she still doesn't sleep properly even now.  Hopefully no one was hurt, but it's still shocking to know there's people like that out there.

They do this to find out if the cars have trackers.

totally agree.  A car thats been taken will be ragged to death and normally they are used for jobs...also used to ship out of the country and taken to Asain countries if anything like the scam that was busted in Manchester 2 year back.  Said it before as well, but even if you try to give em the keys, if the kids are around they will be held and threatened just like the guy near me, and that was a machete at the kids throats....

Biggest advice is get steel reinforced UPVC doors and no patio ones at the back...that way its a smash a window job and most dont want to risk leaving fibres behind on the broken glass or even DNA from any cuts...

Good luck seeing the other one back, and hope that the insurance pay out what its worth
