Fitting the american mk3 cup holder

Hi folks I got a american mk3 cup holder, it slides into the cubby holder perfectly but doesnt stay in place, I know it needs modified I just want to know if anyone on here has done it and how??

I think you need to do some cutting, as the cup holders are for a LHD console.

Don't quote me, never done it.
