Gone mad?
« on: 28 October 2009, 22:07 »
Just treated myself to a few things:

P21S Wheel clean gel 1ltr
Autosmart smart wheels cleaner 500ml
Poorboys wheel wax 8oz
Black Wow trim restorer
Wheel brush
A load of microfibre cloths, applicators, sponge, mitt etc

All in all cost about £70. Never used any of them before and I'm not sure I've done the right thing when you consider you could buy the equivalent products from Halfords etc for around £30, but you get what you pay for so lets hope it's all worth it!

I was in the same boat as you, I've just bought a load of stuff too. At the very least we'll have a lot of fun using it.

Let us know how you get on.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

incorrect... eg... you have purchased AS smartwheels... which you can dilute down at a ratio of 3:1 (iirc)... so in actual fact you have purchased 1.5L of very high quality wheel cleaner.

all the 'better' brands that halfords stock, eg. megs hot rims. are non-diluteable so you will be looking at a higher cost price...

lets use hot rims as an example.  http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_199237_langId_-1_categoryId_165682 @ £11.96 per litre x 1.5L = £17.94 - you can now see where you are making your savings! although I don't know how much you paid for your 500ml smart wheels.

by the way... I have never seen smart wheels for sale in 500ml... only 5L as it is usually sold in bulk valeting kits for trade use. 5L is available from smart valeting for £18.50 http://www.smartvaleting.co.uk/index.php?cmd=cat&catid=28 - this would provide 15L of wheel cleaning solution. 15L of megs hot rims from Halfords would cost £179.40 - now you can really see where you are making your savings!!

ps. ditch the sponge!
