Exhaust indicator light MK V GTI

Exhaust indicator light came on at the weekend guys. Can anyone offer some advice. I've another thread running looking for a decent VW indi garage as it will need to be sorted however just wondering if anyone can advise what the usual causes are and if I shouldn't be using the car at all till sorted.

Just a light on but no running issues? to be honest with a mk5 its best to take a trip to a local dealer/garage for a plug in diagnostic could be all manner of things ranging from a lambda fault to a software update most will either plug in for free or charge a small labour fee unless further diagnostic is required, at least this should point you towards the fault.

cheers, havent noticed any change in performance.... I'll book it in and see what they say my concern was using it in the mean time until I can get it looked at.
