load compensator
« on: 13 October 2009, 16:51 »
Hi guys i lowered my 8v gti about 2 weeks ago on weitec coilovers. The problem i have got is that i cant get the load compensator valve set up correcly. I loosened the 13mm bolts at the bottom of the spring and checked if it was free which it was allowed it to settle at its new height and re-tightened it. The car still seems very tail happy im not doing the most scientific test tho braking hard at 30mph steering slightly and she just wants to spin. I was wandering if anyone has any advice on how to sort it out. I did notice that although the valve was free moving is it suposed to retrn to the top of its travel on its own? Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

Did you ensure the valve was in the correct position before tightening the bolt? Sounds like it is open allowing full pressure to the rear brakes. Usually you need to hold the valve whilst tightening the bolt.
