centre console doesnt fit after abf swap

i moved my car the o asther day and couldnt get my centre console back into position as i couldnt get it to sit over the base of the gear stick it was as if the gearstick was to far forward but i bolted the housing back to where it was positioned in the doner as there was a indentation in th foam
as it was going dark i couldnt see properly and havnt had chance to look at it since and wondered if anyone else has had this

have you put in the cable change box? I found it very tight but it does go in with some force. Try removing one of the front seats to help.

i have fitted the cable change box but i cant seem to get the console far enough forward to clear

When fitting the 02A cable change box to my mk2 I had to cut the fwd mount of the centre console out for it to fit right as it would foul in certain gears. Also it all depends on how you mounted the shifter mechanism itself, as how this is fitted will alter how the gear stick itself sits.

its fouling on the front left side section it looks like it has some adjustment via a 13mm bolt but if i do this it looks like the gear selector wont be centred correctly

As owen stated, I cut a bit of the console out around the gear stick where it was catching.
