need advice on getting more bhp out of my mk3 16v

Hi, i hear alot about how much better the mk2's are ect and have heard some people have got there mk2's running at 180 bhp if thats so can you point me in the right direction as i want to do this to my mk3 16v i have just brought a full stainless ,  de-cat, and a k&n 57i filter . on the mk3 section i asked what bhp gain i would get there is mixed opinions on this is there a gain or not???? and to get more bhp out of mine what is the best thing to do????????

Better breathing = more power generally.

Do you have a tubular manifold on it?

If you have the next step for you is a set of independent throttlebodies and cams, but then you're getting serious.

Lose 1-200kg out of your Golf3 (not too hard) and you'll feel like you're getting a lot more BHP.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

mine is the abf engine with the inlet manifold on top i have a k&n 57i induction on it and a full stainless with a de-cat do you think this would make a diff in the bhp???

If you remap an ABF you'll see 170BHP with no further mods. It also responds well to a 4 branch exhaust manifold and a set of cams. But beware when buying cams for the ABF, as you cannot use cams suited for KR as many people believe. They physically fit but do not perform well. 200BHP is achievable by cams, full exhaust inc 4 branch and remap.
