Brake Disk wear indicator question.
« on: 02 October 2009, 20:49 »
This evening, I helped change the front pads on a friends 53 plate polo.

We changed the first set, and cut off the brake wear cable because the car didn't seem to have a plug recepticle.

BUT, when we went to change the second set, we realised that this one DID have the cable.

We put the new pads in and just taped up the plug.

The brake wear light is on permanently on now.  What can we do to get the light to go out?  Fix a new pad with a cable?

Also, although the pads are brand spankers, will it fail an Mot? I'm guessing not, surely the tester will just be able to visually check the pads?

you should be able to bridge the two connections in the receptacle which will disable the light

We tried putting a screwdriver across them, but nothing.

When we pulled the plug off, there were two male portions.

Are these what you mean?
