horn issues
« on: 03 October 2009, 09:22 »
ok my horn was a fail on mot.
87 8v
orderd two brand new horns as i had the same issues before and thought it was the horns corroding

put them on and nothing all fuses are ok checked the relay and it clicks as it should

im getting 11.5v at the horn at grille

i can have one horn working but not both at same time, if i disconnect either one the other one works as it should, but with both connected the relay clicks and the horn makes a dull deeper clicking noise.

iv tried using higher amp fuses 20 amps but still nothing

also when you press the horn it seems to suck alot of power if the engines running the engine idle drops about 100 rpm and the handbrake light dimms

any help is much appreciated

hi sound like horns are drawing to much current through old wiring. if you must have two horns then i would wire a mew relay under bonnet from battery and hon feed very simple pm me if you need diagram
