does it increase power?
Only in conjunction with other airflow, porting, cam and exhaust mods.

Would have thought that a cone filter or a panel filter would be better first before those mods!

I think they are all relevant its all about air flow getting as much gas as possible in and getting as much gas as possible out. Thats why one or any mod on its own dont make much difference as there is no point of getting more gas in if you cant get the extra gas out etc. I think the reason the filter is popular for the first mod is more to do with the intake roar than the increase in power.

what would Len know he's drunk. Makes big difference, increases throttle response and obviously power throughout the revs as more is coming in more smoothly.

Smoothing out the casting will improve the airflow and give you a few hp at top end, but should also give you a slightly better / quicker throttle response.

I did mine last week and there was a differance in throttle response.

Don't go too mad otherwise it will end up a bit jerky at lower revs.

There's a thread on CGTI about breathing mods. They could find no differance on back to back rolling road tests between performance and standard new paper air filters, but this would change slightly with an older paper filter. There was an improvement with a smoothed and modified air box. i think they are going to look at the smooted throttle bodies next.
