OK, thanks to the advice on here, I went out and bought some Osram Nightbreaker bulbs as they were the only ones in my local factors.

They're a lot better then stock  bulbs, but no where near as good as the HIDs, but I suppose blinding people isn't exactly good.

Is it still a stupid idea to have them in high beams only?

If you haven't fitted an uprated headlight loom then now is the time to.

You may find with that fitted your lights are as good as, if not better than BS HIDs.
