iPod Connector - Interference
« on: 20 September 2009, 14:56 »
Hi all, I'm new on here, but have been lurking for a while and just need to say it's been a wealth of knowledge for me through deciding if the GTi was right for me, to ordering, getting a deal picking it up and now bedding the engine in....(only 250 more miles to go to the magic 1000)

The car is 5dr DBP, with Leather, Park Assist, RNS 510 with dynaudio and maybe a few others...

My issue is around my iPod connection. When I listen to the radio or CD's the audio quality is excellent, but when I am using the iPod, there is this cnstant crackling negative feedback sound.. Has anyone experienced this and have any idea how to fix it...

Any help would be much appreciated...

Thanks

LTGTi

can't say i've experienced this and i use my ipod all the time (with dynaudio).  Sounds silly but have you checked the connection with the wire?  might be loose or might be a dodgy lead.

I've had that happen a few times, but it tends to disappear after a few seconds...as for the solution I can't help I'm afraid :(

I have no problems with my iPhone so far. Sounds good and crisp. Will let you know if I have any problems with sound quality.

Most likely reason will be the sockets in the ipod. They collect a lot of dust ect that may be causing the problem. Give the sockets a good clean with a blast of air or electrical contact cleaner. It could also be the lead the connects the ipod to the car but is unlikely to be that. What ipod are you using?

I am using the iPod Classic... I will give it a good clean and report back.

Thanks for the other advice as well, turning the volume up on the iPod itself did not seem to do any good.

Have you tried switching off all the on-board Ipod signal processing - bass boost, equalization etc?  Mine didn't seem to suffer  from interference but this did improve the sound.
