NOW I HAVE A WASHER PROBLEM!!!! :(

Hi Everyone.

After locating my wiper and heater failure to a tempremental ignition switch I replaced the switch today only to find that I now do not have no windscreen washers.

Before the wipers stopped working the washers worked fine. Now when I pull the stalk towards the wheel the motor is silent and both front and rear wipers come on together. I have replaced the wiper stalk which made no difference and I have tested the motor which works fine.

Any ideas on this one. Was looking forward to giving it a good clean and a drive out today..

I have a similar problem with my Golf, dunno if this will help you nut here goes.

Wiper jets were working intermitently or not at all, so I pulled apart the indicator stalks, and sanded down the ends of the contacts, which were badly oxidized. Sanded them down nice and clean, put it all back together and wipers work fine now.

the only thing i can think of that will cause that is a short between the 2 wires that trigger the front & rear wipers, especially since you have replaced the stalk. i think you need to get under the dash and have a damn good look at all your wiring!

Do your washers work when the ignition is off?
On mine they work fine when off, but when engine is running it shorts and blows a fuse.

Good luck hunting it down.

It was the stalk. All working again now!!
