quick question. Service interval display?
« on: 19 September 2009, 12:44 »
Hi just had my car serviced and had the Cam belt done.

Used a very good local gararge ive known and used for 20 years, bit of a shame as the car has Full VW history up untill now, but as the VW Stealers wanted £650   I decided as the car is an 04 its doesnot justifiy the expence.

I got the same job for £200 and I dare say probably done with more care!

Anyway, the service interval light now needs resetting, as it flashes on start up which is annoying.

I even bought a haynes manual, but they seem to either cover the basic model mk5 or have made a mistake and are describing the mk4 resetting. As the buttons they describe, and sequence are all wrong.

The general idea is to hold the clock or trip reset and do something with the ignition, but as said the haynes description is not working on my car

So can anyone tell me how its done.

Step buy step would be great.

Thanks.

If you have no access to a vcds cable then you could try this:

Push the trip reset button and keep it pushed in.
Turn ignition on but dont start the car.
After a few seconds "service now" should flash on the screen, when this happens let go of the trip reset button and push the m button (minutes button)

Without traction power is nothing!

VCDS is the new name for vag-com.

Where are you based as there may be  someone in your area with one to help you out.

North essex, between colchester and braintree.

Tried it again but no luck, just changed the time again
