MONZA II REPLICA PROBLEM
« on: 29 August 2009, 12:21 »
I've bought some replica MONZA II's for a MKV I have recently picked up, the wheels arrived as a package with tyres etc.....

I fitted them & went for a test drive & there is a lot of road noise & the car is drumming at certain speeds, particularly when braking at about 20mph.

Also, the tyres are shocking, no grip in the wet whatsoever, but then you get what you pay for.

Question is, if I replace the tyres now will I solve the drumming sound?

Are they directional tyres, are you sure you've got them fitted the right way round?

What make of tyres did they come with , will be cheap rubber i guess as it keeps the price down to help sales.

Getting some decent tyres sounds like a good idea. My dad got budget tyres on his Volvo S80 once and the road noise was terrible! At certain speeds it just droned throughout the cabin. Once he swapped them for Mitchellins (spelling?) that went away.

The make of tyres are Wanli??  I have checked the direction is correct, pressures etc....  All ok.

Never had a problem like this on my ED30, R32 so its gotta be the tyres.  The 17's I have taken off had a set of 4 week old Dunlops so may try & do a part ex on them with a local tyre place.

Which Wanli's are they? The Ditchfinder 3000's or the BrownSport2's?

Only joking. Get some decent rubber on there.
