mk1revarge running issues
« on: 08 September 2009, 18:25 »
to explain, a mate is having a lot of trouble with her revarge. on starting it up you have to wind it for ages, as though the choke isnt working and when it starts its got not power and really hesitates all the way through the rev range. on a run she says at a hundred when she hits a hill the power really drops away.shes also said something about trying to rev it from idle when its hot, and it then running really rough. sorry i cant explain abit better more of a diesel head, plus i havent actually been able to physically get my hands on the car as shes up north atm and im in devon, will be able to have a look tomorrow. is there anything that you guys could point me in the direction of. the little i know about petrols it would seem to be timing but as iv said i havent looked at it yet. is there any other comman issues with said problems on the kjet?someone at work saidsomething about there being a fifth injector, would this cause the problems if it was faulty?should i be looking at something completely different?

soory guys, anything would be gratefully recieved

cheers, andy

check timing first mate

then check to see if fuel filler neck is rusted thru

it sounds like a fueling issue i.e. starvation
rust can get thru the system and block the metering head and injectors and knackers the fuel pumps
there are two pumps on kjet an intank lift pump amd the main pump under car
when you turn on ignition listen for the in tank pump humming and listen under car for main pump priming
it could be just a blocked filter

do a search on here for 'fuelling issue' and it should bring up lots of pointers
