Info on mk1 engines

This is the most relevant place to post this!!  Am I right in thinking the mk1 was available with a 1.8 carb engine? If so from the pics I have looked at they use the same mounts/mounting point as a mk2 Scirocco, I am wondering if these engines will go straight in a '91 GT2. I am aware the codes are different (the Rocco is an EX), but hoping they swap over! Any info would be great. Cheers, Ben.

Mk1 was only available with the 1.6, the mk2 was available with the 1.8 and 1.6.

Thanks for the help, however plans have now changed.  I have an engine available, it is a 1.8 injection..DX I believe? Defo 1.8 though.  Will the carb manifold go on inplace of the injection one, will plug the injector holes aswell. Cheers again!
