an engineering/hydraulic pipe place should be able to make you one up for low low price (last time i did it cost me £15 v vw's £125) but you'll need to take the pipe off

Might not be as easy as that, 1) they are not allowed to make pas or brake hoses due to hse laws, 2) that is a special end which the will struggle to get outside of vw.

Find a local branch of Pirtek. They will be able to make you up the pipe (and are allowed to) and should be able to supply the right connectors, or even re-use the existing end connectors. As previously said you will need to take the old pipe into them.

Simple procedure, remove old pipe, catch and dispose of any fluid that leaks out. Get replacement and fit. Top up fluid reservoir, start engine and turn steering from full lock to full lock whilst checking the fluid level. Top up and repeat until the level stays still.

Its handy to put your front tyres on old newspaper to make turning the steering easier and not damaging your tyres.

Pirtek's company policy is the same as hse in that they should and most of them will not make a pas hose or brake hose as if it fails it could cause a loss of control, I work with hydraulics everyday and deal with a lot of hose companys.

It is also now an illegal to reuse any hose ends or just fit a new end to a old hose.

Ok I take note of your experience.

But in the real world I know of lots of people on another list / forum who regularly get high pressure hoses made up by Pirtek for Porsche power steering applications. These may or not be warrantied, and my advice that they may re-use your existing ends may be off the mark.

If this is illegal it seems a bit daft considering you could buy secondhand hoses, but I understand that some or all companies will be worried about being sued in the current claim society.

I would get one second hand, just make sure its good quality.
There are loads of breakers out there...

Thing is, unless you have x-ray vision, you can't tell if its a good one, as the hose degrades from the inside...
