I've done it successfully, yes me!  thats why I said its easy, as long as you have a good torrent.

what do you mean?  you download the firmware from a torrent, burn it to a CD, then upload to the unit, very easy.

Dont think its as easy as that... i heard of someone cooking ther unit. Apparently as its updating it can freeze and cause one of the boards inside to overheat and melt.

Would be interested to hear from someone has done it successfully. And even more interested in a link to the torrent  :lipsrsealed:

Cheers 2007gti!! managed to find a good one and successfully update it to the newer version B. Now gonna have to ge myself a copy of v5 maps

I have managed to find V4 of the maps with cameras but imo the maps are much poorer quality than the ones I had on my unit originally... they will do for now, but Im just not sure if you can update V4 with another V4???

Anyone used these guys before?

£650 fitted seems quite cheap for an RNS510 unless its a refurb unit  :undecided:

Dan

Had them fit a mfd2 to my Pirelli they might be OEM but I'm not sure where they come from mine was full of Danish addresses + quite a few marks on the screen but for £350 fitted inc VAT you get what you pay for (did the fiting in his back Garden they don't have premises)

Real Thing is this the guy in Manchester?  If so its who I got my RNS510 from £300 plus my mfd2.

R32UK before you burn the file to disc you need to change the version number in the cdrom.toc file from 6374 for example to 6375 then change the title of the disc in the iso program(ultraISO) to that of the new version number...http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2092.0

The above url is an excellent how to and coveres how to change the version number.

Cheers
