painting plasic grill
« on: 22 August 2009, 17:58 »
i've brought a early vento grill. i noticed that its a dark grey plastic. i want it standerd matt or satin black like most normal vw grills would be will stand out like a sore thumb a grey grill on my black golf. any advice on painting it? i know i can just rub it down, blast a few coats of paint on, but will its flex and crack being plastic? i always hear people say dont paint plastic when people ask about back to blacking there bumpers.

thanks
laim

aslong as you do it right and use plastic primer it should be ok. i have done it...in fact there is a thread on here telling you how to paint the grill in the maintenance section <trying to find link!>

where did you get it from? is the grey colour primer? some parts come already primed.

I'd be tempted to go over the grill with steel wool to roughen up the surface and ensure that the primer sticks on well.
