« on: 11 August 2009, 00:13 »
hey guys i was wondering if you could help me out, ive just bought a 04 mk5 2.0 gt tdi and there seems to be a problem with it i was just wondering if any of you could shed any light on the problem so i can go bk to there dealer and get them to fix it so i know there not f**king me off, basicly what happening it my car will accelerate up to about 3000rpm then after that it seems to start kinda push forward and jump asif it wants to carry on but it cant it just gets really jumpy accelerating then slowing down it does this within secconds and its a constant thing when its at high revs.  it does this in all gears and tops out round the 100mph mark also im getting really poor fule consumption getting round about 38mpg i know it needs a service soon so could that be why its doing it or could there be a bigger problem? ive also noticed a like howling noise from what im guessing is the turbo and i cant figure out is thats normal or not can anyone shed any light on this? thanks James

My first guess would be to look at the MAF sensor.

The well known "owl" sound in the GTTDI is quite common. Annoying sometimes, but isn't the source of your problem, nor does it affect performance in any way.

Does it have the OEM or an aftermarket air filter?
