Y'ouch that sucks dude... Sorry to hear that man!

I'm after a project, so may be interested if you are local-ish for £250?

I know the offer is horrible dude, but that's honestly what it's worth...

its so damn frustrating because iv only had the car since may, i bought it off a fellow forum member as well. such a disappointment as these problems came out the blue. its the flat black colour and a 5 door. doesn't drive at all, ticks over but wont stay on (as if the battery is flat or something).   ill let you all know by next week whats definately happening. cheers

I'd exhaust all possiblities before you decide to punt it.

It's a downer it's happened, but look upon it as an oppertunity to expand your mechanical knowledge

If it's an engine you can get them reasonably cheaply. Plus the likes of Rubjohnny and danny_p are mines of useful info.

Best of luck with it.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

I agree, even on ebay 16v engines go for peanuts.

I was offered a 16v complete the other month for £200, if you like the car you might as well fix it, bits are mega cheap and your time is free

to be fair i dont have the time or patience to search for an engine, luckily iv managed to get a spare runabout for work use but iv got to give it back in the next week or so, so cant afford to be car-less. like someone said, im looking at all possibilities first, if to no avail, im going to have to take it off my hands. would be an extremely cheap project for someone as the gearbox, ecu, brakes etc. are all in in top working order and if anyone can find an engine for under 200, happy days. like i said the car still has tax and mot so cant be completely worthless. i just have the worst of luck at times
