Rocker Cover Breather

Hi guys

My Breather and Tube have filled with mayo (HG went) plus the piping has gone very spongy and limp.

Would it be possible to just block off the inlet manifold side and fit an aftermarket crank case filter?

Oh this is on a Mk2 8v GTI
