throttle body removal on golf gti mk3 8v AGG engine

hi, lads like the title says, im trying to change the manifold gaskets, iv taken the nuts of for the manifold but theres the 6 nuts for the downpipe that are hard as theres lack of space. iv taken the rocker cover of too as im going to be painting it. so as thats out theres more space to work. now the throttle body am stcuk please help.

I am not sure what six bolts you mean. Heres a pic of a throttlebody and manifold already removed if that helps.

these 6 bolts are for holding the downpipe to the cat.

The throttle body is bolted to the side of the inlet manifold by 4 hex bolts.

remove the throttle cable, unplug the wire harness on the back corner then remove the bolts.

there's two vac hoses which connect to the bottom of the throttle body. I left these plugged in and just moved the throttle body to the left hand side of the engine bay, as best i could. But you can remove them if need be.

Hope this helps

Removing the inlet and exhaust manifolds without removing the engine is no easy task. It's not paticularly hard, but it does test your patients!!

Oh and be carefull when removing the exhaust manifold bolts, use plenty of wd40 on them as it's a Bsterd if one snaps!!!

i think i snaped1 :rolleyes: its for the downpipe and cat meets, what would i need to do to replace that?

you mean the 3 nuts that hold the CAT and downpipe together?

no its 6 nuts. you have to undo them from under the car but i cant get under the car so im leaning over the front end of car, itd the downpipe ones.

Exhaust bolts are terrible for snapping cause they get heated and cooled so often. Plenty of standard exhaust manifolds on ebay or even performance ones.

Ah I see, you mean the manifold to downpipe bolts. Not sure on the bolt size though buddy, sorry.
