the smaller sensor in filter housing is the oil temp sensor for mfa, has geen/black wire. the larger sensor is the high pressure oil warning switch, has a yellow wire.
knock sensor goes on the front of the block close to the alternator, should be a threaded hole for it with a relatively clean bolt facer. make sure you clean the mounting face so it can get good contact, and do it to the exact torque figure as in the haynes.
1. leave these unplugged, most likely dim-dip resistor which is evil
2. for headlight range control motors
3. spare
4. spare
5. could be for central locking, leave it for now
6. oil temp sensor wire
7. blue = ecu temp, black = dash temp. black plug is right, but you need to find the blue ecu plug and connect it

8. blue = low pressure warning switch, sensor on side of head. brown is an earth, goes to a stud on water flange or bracket on back of head
9. horn, gti has 2 horns you probably only have the 1
10. fog lights
11. blue = alternator warning, should be a wire off alt for it, red = battery +ve terminal
12. chunky red = starter motor terminal, red/black = starter spade terminal pin 50
13. header tank
14. adjust so when foot flat to floor throttle is ust fully open.
15. dont pull it like that, the plastic bit doesnt move its the inner bit

16. washer pump
17. blue = D+, chunky red = B
18. air temp sensor for mfa, goes down thru hole in front of battery and pops into a hole on the inside of passenger wing, behind front bumper
19. both chunky red to starter, red/black starter pin 50
20. header tank level sensor
