Twin Carbs
« on: 31 August 2004, 10:03 »
Hi

Ive got a 1.8 k-jet with a gti engineering plus pack head, and 4 branch exhaust. Ive just been offered a set of twin 40's. Does this engine take well to the twin carbs? and does any one know rough power figures?????? Any help would be tidy

 Ben.

Why go to an archaic fuelling system? Although K-Jet is not ideal it is still better than carbs (with the exception of induction roar).  Current thinking is to upgrade to throttle bodies. It doesn't sound like your engine has been heavily modified particularly bottom end and therefore probably don't need the bigger? capacity of fuel that can be provided by twin 40s.

Presume the twin 40s are Webber DCOE, which are good carb, but does this come with a manifold for a golf?

What do the carb boys think compared to their injected brethren?
