Tail pipes
« on: 03 August 2009, 16:44 »
Afternoon,

My Gti's tail pipe tips are so far gone, it's untrue! They are burn to bits, and i've tried everything to clean them, but no luck. Can i buy just the tail pipe tips from anywhere? The golf's really stand out from behind if, if the tips are clean and shiney

I've thought about a miltek, but aint into all the tuning larky (except for it's re-map) so can't justify paying the premium for it. Any suggestions will be gratefully recieved. Ta!

Try Autosol, some 00 grade wire wool, and lots of elbow grease!!

I usually wipe my tips after every drive so that they never get the caked on carbon, as its a pain to clean off when its really layered on!

I used sand paper! Started at 400, using a long strip of it and buffed it like a shoe shiner  :nerd: then stepped down to 800 then 1000, then got a cloth with autosol and give it a really good buffing!!

Took a while and there a still some very fine scratches in it (im being fussy here) but will continue to autosol it everytime I wash it and it has come up well. Mine started out rusty and completly black!
