16v Possible oil temp problem
« on: 28 July 2009, 12:49 »
Sorry if information exists already I have searched but to no avail.

My 16v runs fine, coolant temp is fine however the oil temperature seems to rise quite quickly according to MFA and can get as high as 130+. Apparently it should be around 100 mainly A+B road driving. Where should I start to look could it be a false reading or am I in trouble. As I said car runs and pulls fine and I never get any warning lights.

Cheers

Sounds to me like you might have a dodgy sender unit so you might wanna check this first before you do anything else more drastic, its located on the back of the head at the top right hand side as you look at the engine.

More than likely the wiring to the temerature sensor is loose or corroded, because I know these things.
Lift your bonnet next time you go to Costco and I bet the wiring to the sensor is loose.  :undecided:
