wheel locking key ----- HELP PLEASE
« on: 21 August 2009, 17:07 »
have just been down another garage for them to try to reseal my alloy, and they cant even get it off now, yet the other garage managed it fine yesterday, the locking key looks like its rounded off, not totally, but it does not look great and the bolt which they coudn't undo does not look too good either, and both together, that thing aint moving, its only one of the bolts though apparently

do i stand much chance of being able to get a replacement or is there any tricks to loosen it?

or anywhere where i could get another key manufactured? like if i give them my original they can replicate it?

cheers guys

Some garages have special sockets that will remove them.

ahhhhh, that might explain why the first one could remove them and the second one couldn't.

I just tried them myself this morning, and had no slippage at all, so i think it could also of been a numpty at the garage. maybe not even using the correct wheel key for the wheel nut, as i have 2 different types on each alloy for security reasons.

Good job i double checked because i was starting to worry, cant trust no one these days

Do people not just find one good local garage and stick with it? That way you know your car isn't being fixed by numpties!

Took mine to a garge the other day. Got bored waiting so I was sat in the waiting room while they repaired the tyre. Spotted him with an air gun in his hand, had to run out to the bay to tell him not to. Fecking idiots.... even I know that and they change wheels for a living

No problems using an air gun on the normal nuts, but not on the locking ones.
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....
