Been out to check the battery and I have 12v accross the terminals, so no problems there.
However, on investigating the voltage at battery I noticed some noise like when you rub the earth lead over the battery earth.
It turned out to be a lose aux connection on the positive terminal which fed the immobiliser. Tightened it up and all worked fine.
