rear speaker
« on: 18 July 2009, 20:59 »
Im half way through changing the rear speakers in my 5 door Mk3 gti - The old speakers have 2 plugs on it both with 2 wires coming out of each, 1 plug has 1 Brown/Red wire and 1 Blue/Green wire  - The other plug has 1 Blue wire and 1 Brown/Yellow wire,

So I have 4 wires but only need 2  - What ones do I use?

Please help

Thanks

Well two of the wires come from the head unit to the rear door speaker, and the other two wires go from your rear door speaker, to the rear tweeter up by the door handle. So ideally you need to track down which wires go to the head unit and which ones go to the tweeter which may involve taking the door card off or tracing the wires back further..

Unless someone else can confirm the colours of the wires cus I doubt my dad would appreciate me taking his 5dr VR apart lol.

There are only 4 wires in total for the rear speakers from the head unit, 1 pair for the left and 1 pair for the right, I have 4 going to each rear speaker
