Rear compensator Needed ? i cant be bothered
« on: 12 July 2009, 16:00 »
Alrite , took my car to work to get it up on the ramp and have a look double check everything is tight after the major overhaul , i see the rear compenstor is leaking badly , is there any real need to have it fitted ? i saw a mk3 gti didnt have one , i dont have anything in the back of the car its all stripped out ,

I just cant be bothered to try and find another one that works and then hope it doesnt leak ,

Cheers Joe

I think you will need it or you will may find your back wheels lock up when you brake hard.

Does anyone know how much GSF charge for a new one?

Deffo needed or wont be safe. I was thinking about binning mine and buying a tap adjuster one that sits in the engine bay. After speaking to the experts I was told you need to rework all your brake lines for this.

I had to replace this last year and got a brand new one from euro carparts,it was about 60 odd quid, mine was seized.
It quite important that its working properly or else you might find yourself facing the other way when braking as the back end can just lock up.

you cant just take it off as its acctually quite an important part (see above) and also the brake pipes run into it if you take it off you will have to find a way to bypass it,easier just to go buy a new one, safer aswell
