Been busy
« on: 25 August 2004, 17:53 »
Hi all a quick update for you all.

My car is back up and running, I need to get a water pipe ordered but it is running and going well I drove her 200 miles last night and all seems fine, I have got rid of the twin screw and gone back to my BBM upgraded charger.

Interestingly someone is building a low compresson 20v engine and putting the twin screw on it, I saw the first stages of it last night, it is going into a 4wd mk1  ;D

The MK1 is all now running fine thanks to AMD and as a quick make over it is having door cards make up at trimmers, and we have redone the dash, umm with the help of my swede jacket being cut up  :o But should be finished in time for action  :)

Thats about it

Now have the door chrome handles fitted, the 1/4 windows have arrived but can't use then  :( as they don't have chrome inserts and the instert that is already on the car goes right round teh whole of the drivers door including the 1/4 window part so we are a bit stuck on that bit.

How do ya get on with the wires on the Mk1 ?

I wanted some for my other car but wanted Gold wires.
The only ones u can get are real Gold plated and therefore deemed unsuitable for road use.

So was just wondering how bad they are to clean etc.

hehehe sorry am going to disapoint you, only drove with the wheels on once and they came off! The twisted and you couldn't drive the car over 70mph.

At the show I did with the wire wheels it took 3 of us 2 1/2 hours to clean them, they are a bit of  a nightmare!

Person who bought them put them onto a polo and he said that the car won't go over 60 now because they are soooo heavy, I had trouble lifting one up!

The person who had the car before me used to put them on at shows when he got there I now know why he didn't use them on a road and wouldn't suggest it to anyone.

Yea s'wat i thought.

I know some Lowrider guys and they run them but they have either big Mercs or Yank cars so the weight aint an issue. But they dont get problems with running out of true/balance etc.
