Intermittent immobiliser fault.
« on: 08 July 2009, 00:53 »
i don't have an immobiliser fob as such but my key does have the small black chip...

Anyone any idea why sometimes the engine won't turn over when i turn the key but when i turn it back and try again it starts no problem... ? (though sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts..)

well, it's had a brand new starter in the last couple of months so won't be that - what else can I check?  What is the method of testing the ignition switch?

Thanks!

troube is the problem you have is intermittant, so its not so easy to track down. you could get another switch and have it hanging out of the ign shroud for a few days, turn it with a screwdriver. if problem doesnt occur again can be pretty sure its the switch.  though if it was me I'd just replace the switch straight off the bad. but then again its much easier for me than it is for you since i dont have the spline adaptor!
