Windscreen washers blocking
« on: 18 July 2009, 01:46 »
Having on had my GTI 6 weeks, i'm getting very frustrated by the front screen washers being blocked up. At least once a week i'm removing the jets to blow them through and remove the rubbish inside. However the problem doesn't seem to be going away, therefore suggesting that the problems further down the pipe.
Does anyone know if its safe or has tried before to put limescale remover in to the bottle and pump it through that way?
If not any other suggestions that could be worth trying?

Sounds like a case of not using the correct VW washer fluid.

I don't use the VW washer fluid, mine are fine!
Tried hot/warmish water!? that may free up sum gunk! as the previous owner may have used fairy liquid (Not good what so ever!)

I think sometimes using various different product can cause a chemical reaction that produces a curious green slime that blocks the filter, a quick blast with a pressure washer might clear it away, if you can get it in there.

i've not tried warm water actually, will try that. the stuff thats coming out looks like bits of paper or white petals! Very bizarre! Want to try all avenues first before taking to a garage as they'll probably charge me a fortune to do something i could've probably done myself!
