RNS510 aerial mod
« on: 26 June 2009, 08:56 »
Morning all,

Im due to get my RNS510 today, if the Post Office pull their finger out!

Im removing an RCD300.

Question is - is there anyway I can modify the aerial connections so that the RNS510 fits the car?

(I understand the aerials from the rcd300 dont plug in the the rns510 without needing to buy a conversion cable).

Apparently the mod cable from VW is over £20.....anyone know how I could save paying out for this and get my new system fitted today?

Just a thought....

Andy

No you cant, you need the adapter. If you dont have the adapter you will only be able to use one aerial feed at a time. ie FM only or AM only, not both.
R32 : DBP : Lux Pack : Winter Pack : Cruise : Leather : Parking Sensors : Rear Tints : Armrest : RNS 510 : Ipod MediaIn : FreeView Tuner : VagCom

Actually, I got it sussed - I didnt want to pay VW £25 for a tiny adapter cable, so all you have to do is crack open the plastic casing covering the 2 aerials coming from the car and then they fit in no problems. Took 2 mins, saved £25!!!!

Also, no issues when putting the rcd 300 back in come trade in time!!

Hmm that's what the dealer did to mine when they fitted it as an extra when I picked up my new car
