Refurbish my gearbox?????

I've got the old classic whine and crunching from the gearbox when in reverse.  does any one know of a service pack or somthing which you can refurbish the gearbox yourself??

anyone done it ??

depends as i had simular prob but my clutch was gonner so i replace that with a bearing and the cover plate for it and the noise has now gone, my cousine had same prob he did the same (this was before mine was done) and same noise went. bare in mind that my golf 3 gti is an 8v with agg engine. not sure how urs will work

if its 02a there are some rebuild threads on vortex with lots pics +  good descriptions
