gonna be tootling off to GSF tomorrow to change all the parts over... will check the thermostat when I is there too! don't want to get to sunday and not have the right one!

wtf, that pump is listed for MK2 8v/16v GTI on GSF as well, and if so it should deffo have 2 outlets on it. What a load of muppets GSF are:
17058  WATER PUMP-COMPLETE    G2 GTI / 16V 8/83 >    18.25

maybe its this one you need:
17058A  WATER PUMP-COMPLETE    VW/AUDI 1.5-2.0 PETROL+1.6D-1.9TDi 81>**    29.95

it was the right waterpump for an A4... just some peenarse had put it in the wrong box!  :angry:

they also said the alternator belt was the right one... and that it should be ok when fitted with the new waterpump...

random indeed... i'm pleased that you was right and they was wrong... just a bit annoying but these things happen

still not convinced the belt would be a go-er though... reckon it is worth popping to vw to get a genuine one instead?

what length is it?  should have it printed on the belt itself if not on the box
