did you take all the parts out and individually clean them?
or just around them?:)

mine needs doing bad

lol i was abit lazy and cleaned around every thing but every thing was so easy to get to anyway didn't need taking apart. get youre self some GUNK dude you wont regret it

Ugly you say..! lol no i think even under the hood it's just simple good concise german engineering practices   add to that there's room to work and attend to servicing with ease, a ten year old car remember with ten year old vehicle technology, all the better for that i say and moreso your glad it's VW and not one of the others..
Anyways apart from that i've never seen an 8valve GTI in that maroon colour!
Great job there.. a bit of inspiration to do mine even..nice one

thanx matey

your very rite dude, for a ten year old bay its looks fine and the car has so much for ten year old car more than what my 02 plate saxo had.

i've never seen a gti in this colour before iver cant seem to find the bloody colour code on the car any where iver  the is a gti same as mine on autotrader only other one ive seen the same. hear it is......  http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/VOLKSWAGEN+GOLF/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-29-201-240-4294966835-4294966886/advert.action?R=200914331678349&distance=81&postcode=bs165hw&channel=CARS&make=VOLKSWAGEN&model=GOLF&min_pr=500&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=1998&vehicleRegLetter=R
must just be only a few out there like a last load they did off production line before moving on to mk4

I agree, looks lush.

well done.

thanx bud

great work louis - mk3 engine bay details never fail to impress me

i think they only look ugly in comparison to modern engine bays because the modern ones have engine covers which hide the majority of the gubbins

yeah i gues your rite to dude

i used gunk on my engine and it looks great, just warm up the engine (not too hot) spray it on, leave for 5-10mins, brush then just spray off, quick and easy!
