What do I need to...
« on: 10 June 2009, 19:35 »
... to fit an aftermarket Alpine (IDA-100 ipod only version) to my 57 plate R32 whilst still utilising the full functionality of the steering wheel controls and highline?? Currently have an RCD300

Have read various conflicting information on the net - something about no illuminated feed (what ever that means) and various other crap that means diddly squat to me.

Also looking to fit an amp so a guide of some sort would be fannytastic

Please help - links to all would be most bodacious

Ta!

You will need a CANBUS adaptor to obtain all the benefits such as auto dimming lights at night and ignition live switch etc etc . I am however not 100% with regards to keeping the MFSW controls, Im pretty sure it does though as all that information is constrained within the twined cables going into the CANBUS.

Also, kinda depends on how clued up you are about car stereo installation.

CANBUS adaptor is a fair bet tbh.

The other option is to give your local car audio installer a shout - they'll know

Can't help any more as I'm going Double Din

Just because your going double din doesnt mean that you wont need a CANBUS adaptor . . . .

The connections on the back of your double din might be the same as a single din unit (this is unless you are get a VAG HU)
