hi everyone.just got my first golf.a 94 gti 16v.
lovely car but got problem with a really rough idle.have just done full service including cap and arm but problem still there.runs smooth as hell above 1000rpm but crap idle.any ideas?

could be the idle stabeliser valve pricy to get new better of hunting a scrap yard or previouse owner could have got an aftermarket cam put in

check the wiring to the throttel position and idle switches, it runs along the back of the inlet and gets cooked!

stick with bad wiring i had the same problem took me a few days to find out the problem all my wires were fused together mainly the ones at the back of the inlet manifold which have been routed along the bulkhead
