Engine Buying advice please?
« on: 03 June 2009, 14:18 »
Hey,

After all this crap with the engine currently in my golf, i have decided to purchase another engine to swap out for whats in the car as it stands.

I need a 1.8 "PB" Engine, can anyone reccomend where to buy a reconditioned engine? I dont mind paying a bit more for something thats had work done to it to bring it back up to a good standard.

I have contacted a breakers in chelmsford (stevens vw breakers) from ebay who will sell me a engine for 150 quid, but as i said, i want to do the care up a bit and would like to have a good start by replacing it with a nice engine.

Im based in spain, but can arrange to have the engine picked up for me and brought here at a reasonable (100euros) cost.

Any advice including some name dropping , web addresses, prices etc would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Brad

La Torre, car breakers on the Madrid-Toledo road, (A42) have loads of these engines off the shelf, cleaned up and ready to install with a 3 month warranty. I believe they may be able to deliver as well. They are the largest vehicle breakers in Europe and well worth a visit.
