Hydraulic clutch on a mk2
« on: 25 May 2009, 23:16 »
Again i have searched, but just want to clarify as there are so many different opinions...i want to fit a hydraulic clutch system to my mk2, i am getting a cable change box, i just want to know what i need for the pedal box? can i use something off an old passat, or a mk3 golf one, i guess what ever will fit i can rob the rest of the hydraulics off too!

Also i posted up about bigger brakes, i have found someone breaking a 1990 2.0 passat, any idea if these hubs will take g60 carriers and calipers?

cheers
Mark

Is the car you're pinching the box from not a hyraulic clutch? The pedal box won't just drop right it - its a big faf from what I've read.

The clutch isn't particulary heavy on a MK2 - why complicate things?

You need a Toledo 16V clutch cable and actuator.  I've posted the part numbers on here somewhen previously.

B3 Passat hubs, carriers and calipers should just bolt right up.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

i spoke to dannyp a couple of years ago about it wen i started the project, he's given me all the info on changing the box to a cable clutch, but as my car is fully gutted, and i've now got the opportunity to fit what i like, i thought a hydraulic clutch wasn't a bad idea! Is the pedal box not going to fit from the passat?

it will go in but you need to do some modification. the bulkhead behind the pedal box needs to be flattened and you have to cut a hole in the bulkhead for the clutch cylinder.   you may or may not need to adjust a mounting bracket on the pedal box, one of them doesnt line up iirc.
