Did i get a good deal?

I have just got a G reg mk2 gti 8 valve with full zender kit and 15" deep dish wheels, all recent service history, 8 months MOT but no tax, for ?200, the body work has no dents or scratches but a little rust round the ariel on the wing, is it a good deal or should i burn it and stay with my fiat punto

cant go wrong for ?200 notes keep the golf and burn the punto

If its as good as it says on the tin, ?200 cant be bad. And, if it does turn out to be a lemon you can strip it and sell the parts on ebay, making more back than you laid out to begin with.

I was thinking abot selling it if it turns out to be a dud, ive only driven it once cos im not insured till tomorow, but it felt really nice even for a 14 year old car, the power steering is a bit noisy and it smoked when i 1st booted it but it has been stood for 6 months, no smoke now though, quick question while im here, i looked under the oil cap and there was that mayo looking stuff but only a little bit so i imediatly thought the head gasket had gone, but the car runs perfectley it doesnt over heat oil is fine water is fine all temperatures are ok, is it likley to have just got a bit of moisture in cos it has been stood so long or should i expect the head gasket to blow properley

It's probably just moisture from sitting for a while, but keep an eye on the water and its pressure in the expansion tank, or any sudden leaks developing in the water pipes. These may give you a heads up to trouble in store.

Cheers lads i will keep an eye on it, i drove it proper for the 1st time tonight and everything was ok but i will keep checking

I will get some pics up as soon as me g/f comes back from france cos i dont no how to do it it aint nothing special but its ok for ?200 i suppose, just needs a bit of tidying up and a good clean
